Manhattan Fly is New York City's premiere light tackle and charter fishing operator. With over 13 years experience fishing in the waters of New York City, Captain Chris Hessert has intimate knowledge of New York's fishing hotspots. Manhattan Fly is New York City's premiere light tackle and charter fishing operator. Trolling or fly fishing the eddies of the gulf stream for tuna, mahi or mako, or just a few hours after work fly fishing or light spinning for blues, stripers and false albacore in the Upper and Lower New York Bays, Captain Chris can accommodate your fishing charter needs, corporate or personal.

With over 13 years experience fishing in the waters of New York City, Captain Chris Hessert has intimate knowledge of New York's fishing hotspots. Chris's fishing career has spanned the globe, including the waters of South and Central America, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Bahamian archipelagos, and the rivers of Northern and Western Europe. Captain Chris's photographs have been featured in Fly Fishing in Salt Waters and Fly Rod and Reel publications, and now his fishing expertise is available to charters in the New York City area.

Captain Chris uses the Yellowfin 34 center console fishing boat. The 34 shares another important attribute with its siblings, too: It comes with the fast, soft, dry ride that fishermen have come to expect of Yellowfin, all wrapped up in a stylish package that exhibits exemplary fit and finish. The 34 represents yet another chapter in Yellowfin's rapid rise in the hard-core center-console marketplace.

Like all Yellowfins, the 34 features a stepped-hull design with a stern pad to provide lift. Its two steps provide aeration and decrease drag, and this shows in the boat's performance numbers. We ran a 34 off Sarasota, Florida, on an admittedly calm day, but there was enough chop to get a sense of what the 34 can do.

Chris's charter fishing equipment available includes: Quantum Spinning and Trolling Reels, Penn Spinning Reels, Orvis Fly Rods, Ross Fly Reels, Teton fly Reels, Redington Fly Reels, Avet Trolling Reels, Pinnicle Tuna Rods, Scientific Angler, Scott Fly Rods, Rio Fly Line, Gold Cup Fly Rods, Billy Pate big game fly reels, and Fenwick Fly Rods.

Manhattan Fly is conveniently based out of Newport Marina, which is just minutes from Manhattan (New York City). The PATH train provides 24-hour daily service to the marina from midtown and downtown (financial district) Manhattan, as well as from Newark, NJ. PATH trains also connect with major transportation hubs (Amtrak, airports, NJ Transit), and New Yorkâs hotel districts. For those of you driving, the marina is located less than a mile from the Holland Tunnel, and ample parking is available.
